Christmas on Main Street Features Snow, Santa, and Holiday Cheer
La Porte, TX— Christmas on Main Street, one of the most popular events in the Main Street District, is scheduled this year for Thursday, December 3 from 5 to 9 p.m. and will feature a tubing hill, a visit from Clutch the Rockets Bear, vendors, and entertainment from La Porte's favorites. The festivities will officially begin with the parade at 5:30 p.m., and entertainment will start at 6 p.m.
The annual event, now in its 22nd year, is one of La Porte’s most beloved festivals. This year will feature all of the holiday favorites, including children’s entertainment from Lil’ Jacks Moonwalks and Indoor Party Center, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and the lighting of the Christmas tree at 8 p.m. This year’s entertainment lineup will include choirs from LPISD’s elementary, and Jr. High schools as well as LPHS as well as orchestras and bands from all levels. More than 50 vendors will be selling food, arts, crafts and retail items. In addition to Santa and Mrs. Claus, Clutch the Rockets Bear will be a featured guest at the event this year--he will on hand from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m., signing autographs and posing for pictures, and he will help Santa and the Mayor light the tree at 8 p.m. This year’s celebration will also feature the Grand Opening of the Town Plaza at Main and Broadway.
A new feature at this year’s celebration will be a giant tubing hill located just off of Main Street on North 1st Street. The hill will be covered with snow, and children and adults of all ages will have the opportunity to slide from 6 – 9 p.m. The tubing hill was made possible with the support of the Port of Houston Authority and Shell Federal Credit Union. It is provided by 4P Entertainment Group, Inc. out of Durango, Colorado.
