The City of La Porte, La Porte LEPC and La Porte ISD would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2011 La Porte Health & Safety Fair on Saturday, September 17, 2011.  The event was a great success for the La Porte community!

The Health and Safety Fair provides valuable information and resources for families and citizens of all ages. The public can receive information on how to better prepare themselves, their families and their community for emergency situations.

The first 500 children at the fair received free Safety Fair T-shirts!  Many door prizes were also given away throughout the event.

Some of the exhibits at the fair included free child ID kits, information on fire prevention, free health screenings, the Teddy Bear First Aid Clinic and much more. Outside exhibits included fire and ladder trucks, ambulances, command vans, HazMat rescue trailers and a 24 ft. rock climbing wall.

There were many demonstrations throughout the event, such as the Ronald McDonald Magic Show, La Porte Fire Department Jaws of Life Demo, Air Products Liquid Nitrogen Demo and AkzoNobel Alkyls Demo. 

Information on fire extinguisher training, bicycle safety, shelter in place training, pet safety and emergency preparedness were also available at the event.  In addition, free children's immunizations and free health screenings were provided.
