Crime Tips

La Porte is a prosperous community and our Police Department is a professional organization that prides itself in delivering the highest level of service possible. Our employees care about our city and strive to serve with compassion, honesty and sincerity.

I am very proud of the members of our organization and we are committed to serving our community by working in partnership with the residents, businesses, and organizations that make up our city. With this partnership, it is our goal to protect life and property, preserve the peace and enforce the law.

I recognize that people are what make the difference in any organization. Our department is committed to recruiting the most qualified candidates, training & equipping them properly, and providing them with an atmosphere that will allow our employees to excel. I firmly believe that if we meet the needs of our employees, they will meet the needs of our community.

As the Chief of Police, I believe that you will find the members of our Police Department to be both professional and proficient in addressing any concerns you may have. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the City of La Porte Police Department’s website.

In 2009, the La Porte Police Department became a "Recognized" police agency through the Texas Police Chiefs' Association Law Enforcement Recognition Program. The Law Enforcement Recognition Program is a voluntary process where police agencies in Texas prove their compliance with 164 Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices. These Best Practices were carefully developed by Texas Law Enforcement professionals to assist agencies in the efficient and effective delivery of service, the reduction of risk and the protection of individual’s rights. Being “Recognized” means that the agency has proven that it meets or exceeds all of the identified Best Practices for Texas Law Enforcement.
