Sergeant Bennie Boles is a 17 year veteran (seven as a reserve officer) of the La Porte Police Department. He is currently assigned to the Chief of Police, where he works as the Administrative Sergeant. At his current assignment he is the Public Information Officer, Internal Affairs Sergeant, and supervises the recruiting and training of all department employees. He most recently served as Swing Shift Patrol Sergeant. Other than patrol he works Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Crash Reconstruction, Drug Recognition Officer (DRE), Breath Test Operator (BTO), Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Instructor. Sergeant Boles is a Chaplain for the La Porte Police Department. He is also a La Porte Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni, having completed the CPA in 1998 prior to becoming a police officer.
He is passionate about his community and serving others. He is a past president of the Deer Park Rotary and Police Chaplain with the Deer Park Police Department. He has served on several boards and committees within his community. Currently he serves on the Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) DWI reduction sub Committee and MADD’s Advisory Council.
Bennie has received the MADD Outstanding Service Award for 2016, is a two time recipient of the MADD Hero award for Harris County 2010 and 2012, BACODA Leadership Award 2010, MADD DWI Enforcement Award for the La Porte Police Department 2009 through 2014, Life Saving Award 2010, Deer Park Citizen of the Year 2010, and City of La Porte Employee of the Quarter 2nd Quarter 2010 and the La Porte Police Department Employee of the Quarter 3rd Quarter 2013.
Bennie currently holds a Master Peace Officer’s Certification from the Texas Commission On Law Enforcement. He is also certified as a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), Police Instructor, Intoxilyzer Operator, Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) Instructor/Practitioner, Crash Reconstructionist and Public Information Officer. He is an adjunct SFST instructor for UHD Police Academy. He has a Bachelors of Science in Organizational Leadership from Mountain State University. Having received a scholarship from The 100 Club Houston, he is currently undertaking his Graduate Degree in Criminal Justice Leadership and Management through Sam Houston State University. In his spare time, Bennie enjoys spending time with his wife of 27 years, Christina and their 4 children, Joshua 25, Jessica 21, both of which are Air Force veterans, Jeremiah 17, Joy 15 and two granddaughters. He also enjoys hunting, fishing and working as a community activist.
